The Flash Drive, Motown Special For June 09, 2026

This week on The Flash Drive, since we were one day shy, of Herbie Allen's birthday, and recalling how excited he was, when I did a Motown Special on another station a couple of years ago in the fall of 2024, I decided, to do this theme, on The Flash Drive, on the eve, of The Grand Master of Fuzz's, special day, AKA Upgrade Day, as I like to call it. I played plenty of material released on the Motown Records label, between the 1960's and 1990's, and featured a 90's cover, of a 60's Motown classic, for Save, or Delete, where I had to play tie breaker where the votes were concerned. The 80's and 90's Hour, also stuck to this theme, featuring some long songs from the early 1980's, and Stevie Wonder was the 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, where I managed to educate Herbie, as he had never heard the song from the 90's that I played, and I have to say, I am rather, impressed! I didn't think educating The Grand Master of Fuzz, when it came to musical content anyway, was even possible! As for why this show went an additional 30 minutes past its normal end time, this is because there was no Country Through the Years, directly following this program, and I did receive some requests for some material not released on the Motown label, so saw to honoring those, and wrapped up the show, with one of my favorite post Motown songs, by my favorite female artist, written, by another former Motown artist, who is no longer alive. I would have extended past that and gone the full 3 hours of the time slot alotted for Country Through the Years, except I was feeling extremely exhausted, after having a long day, that lead to me eating mini corndogs and drinking Coke throughout the first hour of the program, and needed to get off the air and lie down. So that's what I did post the show's conclusion, but aside from being exhausted at the end, I had a lot of fun putting on the show, and perhaps I'll do another Motown Special, either on this program, or The Variety Party, in the distant future. The Variety Party, Slumber Party Fiesta, Featuring Top Gun, And Peabo Bryson Tribute For June 05, 2026

This week on The Variety Party, it was a Slumber Party Fiesta edition of the program, where I featured the movie, Top Gun, as chosen by Monty, as his prize, for winning the latest round, of Beat the Intro on The Flash Drive. He chose this movie, since it turns 40-years-old this year. Also, perfect timing to run this movie, since we are only a week shy of when I aired the sequel, Top Gun Maverick, last year, back on June 13, 2025, also chosen by Monty as a prize, for winning Beat the Intro. Post tonight's movie conclusion, I did a tribute to Peabo Bryson, who sadly passed away earlier this week, from complications of a stroke. He was 75-years-old when he died. Out of the 6 songs that were played in his memory, 4 of them were chosen by Monty, while I chose the 2 songs that started off the 6 pack tribute. All-in-all, it was a very good show, and while it flew by, I had a lot of fun putting it on, and am very glad, I had a relatively easy playlist to put together, since I took a long nap this afternoon, cutting into my normal playlist prep time. This week on The Flash Drive, I played several listener requests, some of which, took up half, of The 80's and 90's Hour! The Save, or Delete, overall was positively received, but the one person who disagreed with it, was also this week's winner, of the Beat the Intro contest, answering correctly to the clip, the quickest, they've ever gotten in a correct answer, to this particular contest! Congratulations to Monty, for winning, and his chosen prize movie, will be played, this coming Friday evening, on The Variety Party over on Server 2! This week on The Variety Party, I played a ton, of listener requests, including a few long songs, so many requests in fact, that the show ended up going into overtime, by an extra hour, putting The Flashback Hour, during the fourth hour of the program, rather than the usual third hour of the program. Aside from that, as it was the fifth Friday of the month, I featured an Artist Spotlight for this week's Life of the Party Segment, and it was my first Country artist to be spotlighted in that segment, putting the spotlight on Tracy Lawrence. I also told the story of what became of my external hard drive, that was apparently, getting ready to die during the initial attempt of last Friday's show, and throughout the program, on top of receiving calls on the request line to send in requests and add to the ongoing discussion, I received some strange calls, including someone hacking my request line towards the end of the program, who tried to request a modern song during The Flashback Hour, and naturally, I declined, the hacker's request. Prior to the start of The Flashback Hour, to help me make it to the top of the hour before disconnecting from Server 2, and continuing the final hour of the show exclusively on my private server affectionately called, Clouvider Radio, I featured a really cool, 14 minute mashup, where at least 2, of my listeners, knew nearly all, of the songs to make it into that mashup. This week on The Flash Drive, once it was established that I was only streaming to Server 1, as one of my listeners claimed, I was streaming to both, Server 1 and Server 2, when that was never the case at all, I played a lot of great music, including plenty of artists with the first name, "Michael," at the beginning of the program, nearly halfway through the program, and, to close out the program, listener requests, which included not one, but two, Same Title, Different Songs, a Save, or Delete, that everybody liked, including yours truly, and The 80's and 90's Hour featured some great tunes from both decades, with an 80's and 90's Artist Spotlight, inspired by a dish made on this morning's ACB Community Cooking Corner, prepared by one of the people who's also a broadcaster at this station!
